Magus

The elderly Magus, former apprentice to Archmage Destane X

The Magus was the wizard who cursed the gargoyles, trapping them in stone sleep. His real name is unknown, "Magus" being the Latin word for "wizard", and therefore a title.

In the Kingdom Hearts Unlimited Saga, the Magus is a major supporting protagonist for the events of the Avalon-Manhattan campaigns. He first appears in "The Keyblade Wars - X" as a young ward for Archmage Destane, learning from the older wizard in the art of magic yet discouraging of his master's evil ambitions for the worlds. He later appears in "Encoded Truths" where he has become an old man, much wiser than he was in his youth. There, he feels personally in debt to all the Gargoyles from the Manhattan clan for mistakenly freezing them in stone. This is a guilt he will never be able to overcome. It also causes him to agree to anything for the Gargoyles, even if it means going against his better judgment.
