Wendigo/Paul Cartier

"Wen-Di-Go SMASH!!"
- The Wendigo's trademark cry

Paul Cartier, also known as the Enhanced menace Wendigo, is a minor antagonist in the Kingdom Hearts Unlimited Saga, first appearing in "The Fantasmic Dreamtime" as a bonus boss in a campaign based on the 2013 film, "The Wolverine".

Cartier was a Canadian bio-genetics researcher at Weapon X, working under William Stryker to create a mutagenic serum that could potential turn the program's hired mercenaries into genetically engineered super-soldiers who could match the so-called mutant menace in strength and power. However, Cartier had neither the necessary resources or the proper equation to create a viable serum, and so hit a roadblock in his research. That all changed when a strange cloaked figure intruded upon the Weapon X secret base in Alkali Lake, and offered Cartier a strange little book that had all the answers he needed to make his dreams come true. That book turned out to be the infamous Darkhold Tome, and its ever-changing text allowed Cartier to craft the Weaponized Experiment Neurodindritic Incident Gamma Zero serum from a variety of chemicals, including Cross-Species DNA samples of Grey Wolf, Mountain Gorilla, and Wildebeest. However, due to the unnatural method of which Cartier gained his knowledge, the serum became spiked with the tome's eldritch magic while Cartier's own mind slowly became twisted with power-lust, to the point where he decided he should be the first test subject and not let Stryker get his hands on his research. The end result caused Cartier to mutate into a feral, carnivorous monster with aggressive tendencies, a living incarnation of the ancient Wendigo curse of Algonquin legend made real by mad science. When Stryker found out what Cartier had done to himself, he ordered the beast to be exterminated and the serum scrapped to prevent further experimentation with its flawed composition, but the Wendigo overpowered the Weapon X soldiers and fled the base into the wilderness to live its life as the dominant predator of the Canadian forest.

Some time later, after Stryker's ambitions had ended with his life, news of the Wendigo's activities would reach Phil Coulson's S.H.I.E.L.D. faction, forcing them to recruit retired X-Man Wolverine to take down the creature and perhaps test him for the coming struggle in Japan...
